Cart before the horses

Was it really just four days ago we went to Dover to oversee the tree cutting? So much has happened in between that it doesn't seem possible.

Here is the before picture taken when we were last at the house consulting with our closest neighbor about exactly which trees would be cut down.

We arrived around 10am to see that all the equipment was in place and the tree service guys were ready to start...

I have a much better appreciation for Ian's chosen vocation having seen these guys work. I have to admit that I think it would be fun to be hoisted up into a tree.

The tree service guys were most impressive ... they were well choreographed and clearly expert in the jobs they were performing... truly artists at work.

And they had a lot of very cool tools to work with! Like this remote control stump grinder...

And this tree muncher!

Alex was working in the back of the house cutting down wild growing trees, shrubs and vines. I was wandering around marveling at the workmanship of the tree guys and taking pictures. Occasionally I helped by dragging branches around to the hungry tree muncher. The morning was punctuated now and then to meet and greet neighbors. I am so glad we bought this house.

Much better!

Of course there is snow on the ground now. Isn't it amazing how drastically the landscape changes overnight by just one snowfall?
